Wedge Salad with Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup

    mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup

    sour cream

  • 1 Tbsp.

    finely chopped fresh parsley

  • 1 Tbsp.

    finely chopped fresh chives, plus more for topping

  • 1

    garlic clove

  • 1/2 tsp.

    kosher salt, plus a pinch 

  • 3 Tbsp.

    buttermilk

  • Black pepper, to taste

  • 1/2

    head iceberg lettuce, cut into 2 wedges

  • 2 oz.

    sharp cheddar cheese, grated

Directions

    1. Step 1For the dressing: Combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, parsley, and chives in a medium bowl and stir until smooth. Finely chop the garlic, then sprinkle with a pinch of salt. Smash the garlic with the flat side of a knife until it becomes a paste, then add it to the dressing. Stir in the buttermilk, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and a few grinds of black pepper. Refrigerate until ready to use.
    2. Step 2Place each lettuce wedge on a plate. Spoon some of the dressing on top, then sprinkle with the cheese and more chives. Serve the remaining dressing on the side.
